Bath Time

Rumour has it Bath is a great place to visit when bursting the Windsor bubble. Samantha and I travelled part of the way together. I caught a bus and two trains on my own, then Samantha joined me for the final train. My day out consisted of one bus, six trains and one Uber.  You may have also heard the rumours that train travel in England is expensive. This is true. With the Trainline App, booking in advance, and travelling outside peak times I scored the return trip for £20. This was a bargain price.  Bath is quite a pretty city, even the times it rained. You can't go to Bath without expecting a little water.  For £11 each, we spent part of the Bath showers in the Jane Austen Centre.  The self guided tour began with an introductory history lesson about the Austen family.  Jane's mother moved her and her sister to Bath to find husbands. Neither of them did. I too did not find a husband, even though I dressed up especially for the trip.  I too am surprised my bonnet only briefly

My Humble Abode

This latest blog post is coming to you from Windsor, Berkshire. Sorry if you can't hear me over all the aircraft noise. Ok, it's not that bad and I'm kind of getting used to it now.  The choice was between two places I found on the SpareRoom website, and I chose the one with the purple room. I also accidentally opted to fill in some of the space with empty hangers after over ordering them online.  Soon I'll show the after photos, but let's check out the shared spaces first. There's the bathroom and additional toilet shared by five people, which has actually not b

Tour of London

Check out a few more (mostly free) things that Samantha and I got up to while living in a London hostel.  Regents Park It might seem like just another park at first, but there's so much to explore.  There's the standard grass and fountains.  There's also Queen Mary's Garden. Not great for hay fever, but a great feast for the eyes.  You might even spot some ducklings.  Samantha and I stumbled across the Open Air Theatre and bought tickets for On The Town. This beautiful production was filled with funny moments, well executed choreography, and fabulous use of the levels in the set. Sure, this wasn't free, but the money was worth it. They have different priced seating, which increases depending on the location of your seat. We selected one of the lower prices, but enjoyed great, unobstructed views.  This entire evening was a treat. First there was ice-cream.  Then Samantha and I each enjoyed a glass of Pimm's. A refreshing, fruity cocktail that tastes just like a B
